Holiday cheer, do you need some?

Hi everyone, I thought this time I would bring you something that was light and hopefully just lifts you for a bit. This time of year can be stressful in good and bad ways, depending on your history. So here is a link from one thing I do amid ALL the things I do online. Enjoy it and leave a comment if you wish. I do wish everyone Merry Christmas, Happy Hannaka, Happy Kwanzaa or whatever it is you choose to celebrate.

For a good cause, are you ready!

Kraft First Taste is an email I get regularly and normally I am collecting recipes to feed the 5 of us. They are a good site to keep looking at and here is a paragraph from an email they sent me. I think it is such a good idea and we all have a good handful of people we could send some e-cards too.

Here it is:

First Taste members have early access to the Recipe for Joy program, so you can be among the first to experience the joy of giving and spread the word about it. Copy and paste this URL into your browser: http://email.kraftfoods.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/eBLgU0QARSA0brI0EGXe0EV and send a FREE holiday e-card today and every day through December 31, 2009!

Today and every day through December 31, 2009!

For more information about Feeding America, copy and paste this URL into your browser: http://email.kraftfoods.com/cgi-bin2/DM/y/eBLgU0QARSA0brI0EGWG0Ey

*Meals are used for illustrative purposes only. Kraft Foods has set a goal of donating the monetary equivalent of 10 meals for each e-card sent, up to a cap of one million meals. Feeding America's meal conversion is effective until 6/30/10.

So there it is, I hope you can do this and help many that may be needing the help. Seems like a good idea though I think our methods of food distribution could be better. Happy Holidays everyone!

Are you still able to go to college?

I have a found a site that might help you out during this downturn in the economy. I might be using it since I may qualify for the "moms going back to school" money that Obama set aside ??!!

http://www.chegg.com/

You can rent your textbooks and it could save you many dollars. Check it out and see if it fits your pocketbook. I will definitely consider it when and if I get to return to school and need some textbooks.

I hope any that desire can attend college and get that degree that could open doors for you to earn your way in the world.

Do you have a loved one on Chemo?

I have found another site of interest I think. If you have someone one chemo for cancer treatment, this site has connections to arrange for house cleaning and maid service. It is a foundation so it is trustworthy and very noble. All that is needed is a fax from the doctor to this foundation for your friend, family member or co worker to get the service for free. Check it out and pass it along to all those that may have need of it.

http://www.cleaningforareason.org/

There are several tabs to check out the doings of this organization, I like the page where they tell you who is handling all the management details. I hope this helps since a clean and tidy environment can lend itself to healing.

Food for those that need it!

I have found a video you can go and view and for each view money is given so that Kraft and its partners can provide food to those that really need it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6rpkyWck3A

I have been fortunate to have been on the receiving end of food donations since I lost my job and the fire we had a few years ago. The food given is of good quality and much appreciated since it allows us to have food we like longer during the month. Tough to eat when it is not what you are used to though when hungry you eat to keep the growlies away for sure. I hope none of you are in this situation but if you are help is out there. View the video and as they say share it with family, friends and coworkers. Share my blog for a quick link to get to it or save it yourself to go and view it often to help them along.

Prescriptions that you need help with!?

I have found a site which just started out as a link in a group I belong to. I clicked on it and found a site that could be a big help if you have prescriptions to fill and are like many folks "out of work".

http://www.needymeds.org/

I urge to to take a look and pass along a link yourself to loved ones and friends. There is a link if you are a first time user of the site, additional programs you might not know about, a link to a prescription card that I myself have. I don't do alot of medicine just good to know if I have to, I do have a card to help me with the cost.

Feel free to comment back if you have found it useful for yourself or anyone you know. I like to hear of good that can happen in this sometimes impersonal or just plain hard life.

Free can be good!

Hello readers, I have been getting free good things from a site and thought it about time that I shared it with you all. I have gotten granola bars, a couple of books, perfume samples, stickers, bumper sticker, address labels and could have gotten more if I had had the interest in acquiring them.

Free Sample

I hope you check them out. I cannot tell you how fortunate I feel to be using this site. They will email you daily with the latest list of goodies. In my busy day that is very helpful to click and open the page to check out what is available for that day. Good luck in all you do!

A site that may be useful to us all.

When we go to the store and buy things we do bring them home intending on eating them in good time. Sometimes though things get put aside, hidden by accident or maybe on purpose. hmmm, what are we to do when we find them. Or Mom or Dad come over and say what is this? How long have you had this? Well, enough of the supposing and here is the site.

I think you find this interesting and useful. Good luck in shopping and caring for all your perishables.

You never know who we will meet.

I belong to a site called Flixster and have enjoyed it since it deals in movies and trivia. Good pictures of our favorite characters too.

Well, I met one person at the site that has a business and after some discussion I have offered to blog about what he does. Here is the link http://www.telecentre.org/profile/TomSparrow

That is the page he gave me a sort of link to and thus I have saved you a bit of trouble to find it yourself by providing this link to the main page. At tThat page you go to, it will have links to the actual website and his blog about his business. If you want to try a new business this just might be what fits you to a T.

Obama is fiddling with the health care system and I have always thought that outside medical access was a good back up. You would have it and make some money helping other people during this time too.

Tom is a hand's on kind of guy and if you need help to get this started he would make a real good mentor for you. So give it a try or at least look at it and see if it might be of value to you and yours.

Thank you for reading my blog, all you that comment and contact me, I thank you.

How much sugar do you eat?

I have found a new site that might be interesting. We are what we eat and this site though not all inclusive it is a site that can give you an idea what is being taken in by our bodies. Also they do not have natural sugars and added sugars as the labels do not yet do that either. I would really like to see that on the labels.

http://www.sugarstacks.com/beverages.htm

This link takes you to the beverages, poke around and see what is in fruit, cookies, etc.

Have a look and hope it opens a door for you to better and healhier living if you would like to improve your life.

Thanks as always for reading.

Sometimes our methods are on the other side of the law.

My daughter, the writer, is very news houndy. She found this artle online and read it to me. We laughted, laughed and wondered all about these folks. I would like to write to them but not sure how to get their information. Read for yourself and please leave a comment. Seems pretty timely to me.

http://cryptogon.com/?p=9424

There is even a few comments last I looked and folks are pretty easy going about this.

Once again, something that I thought you might want to know.

During this economy let us not forget our pets!

I do troll about the web and this one came to me. I belong to several groups and when I saw this I thought is very pertinent to the times. Good luck if you have pets, they are well worth keeping as a member of the family.

Below is a comprehensive list of pet financial aid-related organizations, listed alphabetically by state.
If your organization is offering assistance (such as pet food, discounted veterinary services including spay/neuter, temporary foster care, etc.) to individuals facing financial difficulties due to the current economic situation, please let us know about your programs by emailing foreclosurepets@ humanesociety. org (humanesociety. org)

Vet care/cost help and affording your pet links at the site.

I hope you have a beloved family pet or two and that life is treating you and them very well, despite all we are going through.

Rethink your email habits?

This time I am sharing something that I see some money showing up in. This is peoplestring and the concept is absolutley wonderful. Will see how far this takes me. Thus far I am still learning and hoping you will check it out too. Might be the thing to help us through this economy. I am unemployed and this is one thing that could add to my possible spending money to keep my household moving forward. Thankfully hubby still has his full time job. Fun thing to move about at and the prospect of earning while I do all I do is appealing. No pressure, I just like to share what I find that could be worth it to someone that reads my blog.
By the way, thank you for reading my blog.

New site I found!

Hi everyone, am glad to make a new post. I was going through a file for my cooking groups I belong to and found this site. http://www.sustainabletable.org/intro/dictionary/

We seem to heading into the area where we are taking care of our bodies better and the best way is through food which sooo many of us love. Personally I am growing alot of my food in the garden this year and will be canning and dehydrating alot!

The site is very informative about the different terms you will see in the shopping mart. There is a blog you can follow if you like. Can find out how to make a more natural pregnancy, find out why you should eat better when you can and there are 3 links to their other sites.

Truely a site that I think is something you might like to know about.

My 5 dollar meal

Hello, I found a site where I could be picked for a grand recognition about a 5 dollar meal. So here I go.

Cooked up Kielbasa Sausage which I bought for 2.29, then added the lima beans frozen bought at 1.54 and corn bought for .95 frozen. Added some water from the free spring down the road and then not sure if you count the energy.

Four cups of milk so that is half a gallon, if counted that adds .94 cents to the meal since we bought the milk at 1.89 a gallon. Used half the gallon.

So let me see, 2.29, 1.54, .95 = 4.78 or 5.72 counting the drink.

This fed two teen agers and my hubby as well as me. There was even a bit of leftovers. For lunch today.

http://www.5dollardinners.com/2007/01/5-dinner-challenge.html is the site where I am doing that challenge. Check it out and maybe you can find ways to extend your food purchasing dollars too!

Are you going through Foreclosure?

If you are currently going through forclosure, there might be something you can do. I listen to the radion overnight while trying to sleep and I caught a news article of a lady that has done something that a handful of folks have now done and saved their home. Buying time at least is on your side in many cases.

Here is the link to the story online that I found so you can really read it and perhaps help yourself. http://www.cleveland.com/nation/index.ssf/2009/02/fighting_foreclosure_homeowner.html

With the uncertain economy I am wishing everyone some sense of security whenever you can find it. I am closing this week finally on a house that will allow us to live a bit more comfortably. By having real estate that has enabled my transition. Land is truely the only safe investment I think. Best of luck in all you do and thank you for reading.
